Securing a Sustainable Future for Galápagos

In partnership with the Galápagos National Park Directorate, we are dedicated to restoring ecosystems and recovering endangered species. Galápagos is home to over 2,000 unique species, a natural legacy we must protect.

Guardians of Ecosystems

Our commitment to conserving the dynamic of Galápagos ecosystems is at the core of our work. Each species plays a critical role in maintaining ecological integrity, from the iconic giant tortoises to the unique land iguanas. By safeguarding their habitats, we ensure that this extraordinary biodiversity continues to inspire and thrive.

Conserving Species on the Brink

Beyond tortoises, our initiatives aim to protect species like the rare pink iguana, with only approximately 300 individuals remaining on Isabela Island's Wolf Volcano. Protecting this species is vital for the health and resilience of its fragile ecosystem. We also work to restore Scalesia forests, essential for species such as Darwin’s finches and the Vermilion Flycatcher. By revitalizing ecosystems that sustain these native animals, we help ensure the future of all the archipelago’s biodiversity.

Repatriation of Giant Tortoises

Repatriation of Giant Tortoises

Since 2014, we have reached a significant milestone: repatriating over 3,000 giant tortoises to their living areas. These tortoises are not only symbolic but act as ecosystem engineers, helping shape the landscape and dispersing seeds of native plants as they move across the islands. Their behavior supports vegetation growth essential for other species, such as land iguanas, as part of a symbiotic ecosystem.

A Call to Action

Our conservation efforts depend on the support of local communities, international partners, and individuals who share a passion for Galápagos. With your support—whether as a volunteer or through donations—we can continue our mission. Every contribution helps preserve this natural wonder, allowing the biodiversity of Galápagos to flourish alongside thriving local communities.

At Galápagos Conservancy, we believe that every action matters. No act is too small because, together, we can create a future where the natural beauty and biodiversity of Galápagos endure, enriching lives and inspiring generations to come.
